![]() ![]() I’d add Banks to my completionist list if it wasn’t for the amount of sci-fi. I can imagine that, because it’s easily the best of the ones that I’ve read so far. My writer friend Stevyn Colgan said he’d met Banks before he passed away, but that he thinks he always struggled to top this one. If I tell you anything more than that, we’re getting into spoiler territory, and Banks was very careful to make sure that he drip fed what he wanted the reader to know as and when he wanted them to know it. Ian Banks is one of those authors who people always tell me I’ll enjoy, and yet I’ve read two of his books before this one and they didn’t leave a particularly strong impression. ![]()
